The Madison area is served by Maine School Administrative District #59.  Schools include Madison Junior/Senior High School located on Rt. 148, Madison Main Street Middle School on Main Street, and Madison Elementary School on Learner's Lane.  In 2019 US News and World Report ranked Madison High School among the top 25 public schools in Maine (#22), a substantial achievement for a rural school district.  

Bonnie Levesque is currently the Superintendent and reports to a 7 member School Board.  School Districts are governed by different state laws compared to municipalities.
